Strong towards New Vineyard, ME

The Town of Strong provides a Learn to Swim Program at Porter Lake in July 2008. The cost is $10.00 per child ages 2 and up, residents and nonresidents alike. All New Vinyard children can register for free. Registration forms are available at the Strong Town Office and the New Vinyard Town office. Monday July 7, 2008 will be a registration day at the beach. (weather permitting). The instructor can evaluate a child's skills in the water prior to registration. If the weather is inclement, the registration will be held at the Strong Town Office. Classes will begin on Tuesday, July 8, 2008. Parents are couraged to register early to ensure a spot for their child at a convenient time. Thursday, July 24, 2008 is the last day of the program. This is Family Fun Day with a party and picnic on the beach. This year, hopefully, a class will be offered that would prepare someone for Life Guard Training if they are serious about perusing a goal in that direction, but are not quite old enough. The Water Safety Instructor Aide class was very popular this past year. It prepares individuals who are interested in becoming an instructor, but are not old enough to take the Instructor Program yet.
There is currently not a registration deadline. Guests are allowed to sample the program once or twice for a financial donation to the program for each day they participate. The instructor can be contacted by phone at 778-5713 or call Sandi at The Strong Town Office to register 684-4002.
