| Services: | Homeschoolers of Maine is a volunteer based ministry founded in 1990 by Ed and Kathy Green. The mission of this ministry is to support homeschooling families in their God-given and constitutional right and responsibility to oversee the education of their children. Before founding HOME’s ministry, the Greens had been homeschooling their four daughters, as well as providing support and guidance to other homeschoolers throughout the state for many years. With those years of experience in homeschool leadership, they felt the time was right for Maine to have a statewide group which had a Godly foundation. This foundation continues to provide the principles that guide the leaders of HOME today. The Christian principles on which HOME rests allow HOME leaders to minister effectively to all homeschooling families in our state. HOME is funded by annual conventions, subscriptions to our newsletter, Founding Family supporters, various fundraisers, etc. We depend upon the generosity of individual homeschooling families to finance the ministry of HOME. Our counseling and most other outreaches are free to all homeschoolers. HOME holds an annual convention each spring. These conventions have grown larger each year. The 2011 convention drew nearly 800 attendees! Our three day conventions include nationally known speakers, workshops, homeschool vendors, a used curriculum clearance sale, and most importantly, the meeting of like minds! Our means of communicating with homeschoolers throughout the state includes The Heart of HOME newsletter, our website, email updates, facebook and twitter.
