Clients:  HealthReach RSVP (Retired Senior & Volunteer Program) makes meaningful connections in Kennebec, Somerset and Franklin counties, linking people age 55 and older with volunteer opportunities in a wide variety of nonprofit organizations.

Our RSVP coordinators work to match a volunteer's life experiences, skills and interests with identified community needs through a local nonprofit organization or one of our signature programs.

As a result, HealthReach RSVP makes a difference in people's lives and in the community. The possibilities for volunteering are endless.

The amount of time RSVP Volunteers give is up to them. People can volunteer several times a week, a few times a month or once a year, depending on what they want to do.

Providing mileage reimbursement to and from their volunteer assignment, as well as supplemental accident/liability insurance if an accident occurs at the volunteer site, or while traveling to and from the site.

Recognition events are held annually to honor your community service.
Services:  Our Signature programs are: RSVP Reading Program, volunteers read to children birth to 5 years old in Head Start and Non-profit day care centers; Thresholds, a five-step decision making model for soon-to-be released inmates; A Matter of Balance, a falls prevention program for older adults; and Bone Builders, an osteoporosis prevention exercise program. Volunteers also serve in area non-profit agencies and organizations that are meeting community needs.

Volunteer Opportunities: Volunteers have a choice of assignments in 30 + agencies in Greater Franklin County. Volunteers may also work at home doing telephone reassurance or knitting or sewing for children.
Required training: RSVP serves as a clearinghouse for volunteer opportunities. Orientation packets are provided to each volunteer. Individual agencies provide training.
Time requirements: A minimum of 1 hour per month.
Hours:  Our coordinator is available by phone, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. RSVP Director Ruth Saint Amand is available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at (207) 861-3428.
