Clients:  Members are age fifty or over, and their spouses/partners who do not meet the minimum age requirement, who:
1) seek intellectually stimulating activities to enhance knowledge, and
2) appreciate social interaction as an opportunity to build new friendships.
Services:  Gold LEAF is a member-run organization devoted to lifelong learning in the Franklin County, Maine, area, for anyone age 50 or older (and spouse/partner, regardless of age) that offers:

-courses that require no educational pre-qualifications
-learning without stress, without tests or credits
-intellectually stimulating classes and activities reflecting the interests of its members
-socializing with people with a similar interest in enhancing their knowledge of the world around them
-affiliation with the University of Maine Farmington, allowing access to UMF's faculty and facilities
Fees: Annual Membership Dues are $30.00 for the period July 1 through June 30. If joining for the first time, dues are pro-rated at $20 if joining during the Fall/Winter term; $10 if joining during the Spring term. Dues are tax deductible.
Volunteer Opportunities: Gold LEAF offers its members ample opportunity for leadership as an officer, or as a committee member on one of the standing committees (Curriculum, Membership & Promotion, Administration & Finance, Special Events and Strategic Planning) -- just for the asking!

Volunteers are also often needed to:
(1) help the office manager with one-time activities (such as stuffing envelopes for mailing the course booklet or newsletter), or recurring tasks (such as checking the mail and phone messages during vacation times);
(2) contact potential presenters for classes;
(3) be a course coordinator during one of the classes;
(4) organize a social event;
(5) help set up for one of the three open house events each year;
(6) staff the Gold LEAF booth at a craft fair;
(7) contribute articles and/or photos to newspapers on Gold LEAF activities.

New ideas are always welcomed and anyone with energy and initiative to apply to Gold LEAF is appreciated!

Founded in 1989, Healthy Community Coalition (HCC) is an affiliate of the Franklin Community Health Network with a mission of promoting health and well-being in Franklin County and neighboring towns, including Livermore Falls.

The Franklin Resource Network

The mission of the Franklin Resource Network is to maximize resources in our community, enabling elders, people with disabilities, caregivers, and all residents to easily find information about, and gain access to, services and opportunities to contribute their gifts and talents.

This project is funded, in part, by an Aging and Disability Resource Center grant from the federal Administration on Aging and Center for Medicare and Medicaid services.
