Clients:  Local and visiting children entering grades 1 through 9.
Services:  EcoVenture is a unique summer day camp founded by the Rangeley Lakes Heritage Trust in 1998. Funded through grants and the generosity of Trust members, it is available to local and visiting children entering grades 1 through 9. EcoVenture is dedicated to providing campers with a variety of fun and exciting outdoor learning activities. Each camp day brings a variety of age-appropriate activities including hiking, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, low ropes challenges, nature-based games and workshops, art and music. The older campers also go on exciting overnight trips in the Rangeley region where they have fun while learning low impact camping skills.
Campers bring their own lunch each day and are asked to dress and bring personal supplies based on the activities planned (swim suits, sunblock, etc.)
Fees: EcoVenture has become tremendously popular and has tripled its number of campers. To help insure that cost is not an obstacle to participation, we provide camp on Tuesdays and Wednesdays free of charge except for a small registration fee ($50 for the first camper in a family and $25.00 for each additional camper). We provide overnight expeditions for our older campers at an increased but reasonable cost that is based on the nature of the expedition and level of camper participation. More information on the overnight dates and fees will be available by May 15, 2009.
Volunteer Opportunities: Providing a fun and safe experience in the outdoors is the ultimate goal of EcoVenture. By lending a hand as a volunteer you will help us succeed while having a lot of fun! There are many ways to help:
Assist the counselors with their daily activities or programs.
Join us on a daytrip or overnight outing - canoe, kayak, hike, or fish.
Help with phone calls, paperwork, and other office activities.
At Camp Wigwam, our 26 acre property on South Shore Drive, we still need help with trail construction and maintenance, painting, carpentry, grounds work, etc.
