The Androscoggin River Alliance is a group of ordinary, concerned citizens who want the best for our communities, and the Androscoggin River. A portion of the Androscoggin River has never met state or federal standards for clean water, and it still doesn't today. Although the river is much cleaner than it used to be, it is still plagued by many problems. Native fish species are blocked from their historic migrations by many dams on the river's main stem and its many tributaries. Development along the river corridor threatens this scenic waterway. And public access will move to the forefront as the river becomes cleaner.
Our mission is to work together with individuals, other organizations, and federal, state, or local governments for a healthy river, good jobs, and strong communities, and to give the citizens of the Androscoggin River Valley a collective voice in the future of the river's policy, planning, and management. Simply put: To work together for a healthy river, good jobs, and strong communities
