Services:  There are many volunteer positions available for any talent and availability. We will need help before, during and after the Trek Across Maine. Once registered, volunteers are provided with information, meals, t-shirts and accommodations at Trek locations.

Here are some of the volunteer positions needed for the Trek Across Maine:

Rest stop helper, route marshals, luggage handlers, set-up/clean-up helpers, finish line helpers, shuttle driver, camp site helpers, back-up and relief, fieldhouse monitor, ham radio operator.

We also have a number of driving positions that require a valid drivers license.

Volunteer Opportunities: American Lung Association has numerous opportunities in our area during the 2008 TREK ACROSS MAINE – June 13 – 15. Volunteers can sign up on our website at: http://www.mainelung.org/Events/Trek/trek_form.asp or call the above number for a form.

Numerous fun-loving volunteers in the Franklin County Area are needed during the TREK. A list follows:

(20) Finish Line: Decorate the Finish Line in the morning with balloons and streamers. Cheer on cyclists crossing the Finish Line (located at UMF).

(15) Ham Radio Operators: Communicate needs along the Trek Route

(33) Route Marshals: Guide trekkers around road hazards, wave them through critical intersections, and be a smiling face along the way.

(4) Information Booth Volunteers: Direct trekkers to a variety of services on the UMF campus

(8) Food Service Volunteers: Work in the food tent at UMF – supply soft drinks, water and baked potatoes to trekkers

(3) UMF Clean-up: Pack up items for the next stop (Colby College) (Sat – 6 am – 10 am)

Pre-event volunteers are also needed to work in the Augusta office. Preparing mailings, assembling trekker packets, calling trekkers or other volunteers with information.

This is our primary fundraiser which helps us to continue our mission of preventing lung disease and promoting lung health in Maine. All proceeds raised from the TREK ACROSS MAINE, stay in Maine.

Healthy Community Coalition

Founded in 1989, Healthy Community Coalition (HCC) is an affiliate of the Franklin Community Health Network with a mission of promoting health and well-being in Franklin County and neighboring towns, including Livermore Falls.

The Franklin Resource Network

The mission of the Franklin Resource Network is to maximize resources in our community, enabling elders, people with disabilities, caregivers, and all residents to easily find information about, and gain access to, services and opportunities to contribute their gifts and talents.

This project is funded, in part, by an Aging and Disability Resource Center grant from the federal Administration on Aging and Center for Medicare and Medicaid services.
