The Maine Emergency Management Agency, the Maine Commission for Community Service, and the 10 United Ways of Maine have come together with the sole purpose of promoting and facilitating volunteerism in Maine.
The VolunteerMaine Partnership has created a statewide web-based volunteer database, the first of its kind in the nation. The database, which uses nationally proven software, serves as the states virtual volunteer center linking agencies in need of volunteer assistance with volunteers looking for volunteer opportunities – and it’s totally free.
There are currently over 41,000 agencies nationwide using this system to attract and recruit volunteers. The number grows daily.
Great news for agencies:
This web-based system gives you free access to leading edge technology.
It allows your non-profit, emergency response, educational, faith-based, or government agencies or organizations to:
Gain access to the many people who search the web for volunteer opportunities and thereby substantially increase the number of volunteers available to you.
A list of all of the agencies or organizations volunteer opportunities in one database accessible to volunteers across the state who share interests.
A posting of needs for goods and services using donationsLINK.
Use of powerful administrative tools to track the success of efforts and to improve marketing.
Reduce internal paperwork by registering volunteers directly online.
List upcoming special events with the use of the Community Spotlight tool.
Search for leadership volunteers for boards and committees.
Have control over when your listings appear and be able to modify or delete them on your own schedule.
VolunteerMaine is also free to anyone from anywhere in the state. No special software is needed and for those who have no access to the internet, they can call the United Way and get information appropriate for their preferences.
