Services:  From Watson Pond Road the trail heads east then swings south along the ridge of 716' French Mountain, up to a rocky precipice near the summit, which offers a stunning view of Long Pond. As the trail opens up near the top, the first view is of tiny Whittier Pond to the east, with Rome Corner behind it, Mt. Phillip to the northeast, and Long Pond to the southeast. The trail continues along the open rocks until its terminus above some steep cliffs overlooking the northern end of Long Pond. From here you also can see Mt. Phillip, Great Pond, The Mountain, Belgrade Lakes Village, and many other landmarks. Turkey vultures usually roost in the rocky face of French Mountain and often can be seen overhead, riding the thermals and looking for a meal.
