| Services: | Durable medical equipment is medical equipment prescribed by a medical provider, for use in the home. Durable medical equipment could be a walker, wheelchair or a hospital bed. This type of equipment is for someone who is sick or injured. To get durable medical equipment you need to see your doctor and go to a supplier enrolled in Medicare. The provider must prescribe the type of equipment that you need for use in your home. Medicare also requires the provider to fill out a form and send it in to get approval for the equipment, if the medical equipment is the following: Air-fluidized beds, bone growth stimulators, external infusion pumps, hospital beds, lyphedema pumps/pneumatic compression devices, oxygen, scooters, self lift mechanisms, transcutanous electronic nerve stimulators, and wheelchairs.
