| Clients: | Strong Area Health Center (SAHC) has been part of the Franklin County community since 1986. Many of the staff live locally and have deep family roots in the area. Avon, New Vineyard, Phillips and Strong are the official towns served by the health center, but patients from Farmington and other towns utilize the health center services as well. The Health Center staff and community members worked together to plan a more modern building and in July 2001, that dream was realized when the Health Center moved into a new, spacious home.
In January 2003, another expansion was completed: a state-of-the-art Dental Center. Strong was selected as the first HealthReach facility to offer dental care. Recent studies have demonstrated a greater link between oral health and overall health than was previously realized. A coalition of local residents and service providers worked with HealthReach for several years to plan the program and seek funding for this important endeavor. SAHC is one of the eleven practices of HealthReach Community Health Centers, which provide medical care in central and western Maine to 36,000 patients each year. |
