In addition to 24/7 response, NorthStar also has a Wilderness emergency response team and an elite Bike Team that helps at parades, fairs and town festivals.
Under NorthStar’s child safety seat program, trained NorthStar EMS staff is available by appointment to check child safety seats or to work with you on ways you can qualify to obtain a car seat. For more child safety seat information contact NorthStar. NorthStar has several other community oriented activities: School programs, speaking to organizations, CPR and first aid training, blood pressure checks are just a few ways NorthStar is in your community. NorthStar EMS also offers Lifeline installations and support to clients in and around the NorthStar coverage area. Who is Lifeline? With over 30 years of experience, Lifeline Systems Inc., based in Framingham, Mass, is the premier personal telephone response company in the country. They have certified, trained, caring professionals ready to respond to a subscriber’s need 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Lifeline is the #1 medical alert program. It has helped over 6 million seniors and their families and is trusted by doctors, hospitals, and professional caregivers. How does Lifeline work? After NorthStar installs the equipment (which takes about 1/2 hour), the subscriber wears a waterproof "Personal Help Button" on either a wristband or as a pendant. If there is an emergency or other need, the subscriber simply presses the button. The Lifeline Home Unit dials Lifeline and the Lifeline representative immediately responds through a speaker on the unit. After assessing the situation, Lifeline then contacts either a local friend or relative or immediately summons a NorthStar ambulance, local law enforcement, or fire department. For more information about this subscription service, contact NorthStar. |

Our purpose in establishing the guild was to share ideas, resources, advertising, equipment and stories. We decided to create a website with links to various recreational facilities in the area as well as local chambers of commerce and health practitioners and to create a communication network among ourselves and the public. Our hope for the guild is to provide an educational massage resource for the local communities as well as establish and grow as a group of professionals |

| Services: | During the initial stage of intensive care, Dr. Keiran will:
Uncover the underlying cause of the health problem; suggest a care plan to produce the fastest results possible; offer ways patients can participate in their recovery; explain the value of post-symptomatic wellness care. Dr. Keiran encourages his patients to achieve the highest levels of health they can. Through educational opportunities (like his website), he hopes to communicate the value of ongoing chiropractic care. His desire is to see practice members abandon the prevailing sickness care model of health (waiting for symptoms and then taking action), in favor of the emerging wellness model. The techniques (listed below) Dr. Keiran uses include a number of highly-effective adjusting approaches to help improve spinal biomechanics and reduce nervous system interference. The approach used is based on judgment and years of experience. Think of an adjustment as "tuning" a piano, adjusting each string so it produces the perfect tone. The primary adjusting techniques used include: Thompson Terminal Point technique is a system of analysis and a special table that reduces the amount of energy needed to adjust your spine. Activator Methods® - This is a system of spinal evaluation combined with a handheld adjusting instrument that delivers a consistent, low-force thrust. Impulse Adjusting Instrument is the most researched and engineered adjusting instrument available today. It uses high technology to deliver a low force adjustment. Born out of more than a decade of research and engineering, the impulse adjusting instrument features new wave technology tuned in to the natural frequency of the body, resulting in more efficient and effective chiropractic adjustments. |

| Services: | Founded in 1989, Healthy Community Coalition (HCC) is an affiliate of the Franklin Community Health Network with a mission of promoting health and well-being in Franklin County and neighboring towns, including Livermore Falls. HCC runs programs and events to support healthy lifestyles that prevent disease and improve quality of life. It also helps neighborhoods grow and thrive -- building a stronger and healthier community for everyone. HCC’s mobile health unit and community outreach efforts appear in every town and corner of our community, offering screenings and health information, and the task forces, volunteers, and health advocates take on the issues that matter in the region’s towns and neighborhoods. Get involved… make a difference! Join a community task force and help make these specific ideas work: Increase availability and awareness of existing walking maps. Help develop a directory of youth opportunities in Greater Franklin County and expand after school opportunities for youth. Expand Franklin Health Access. Improve access to local healthy eating choices. Develop a catalogue of local products and ways to store raw material to promote local bulk purchasing. Expand adult education courses on money management, cooking and other life skills. Engage area schools in improving environmental education. Develop a Youth Speaker’s Bureau to support tobacco prevention efforts. Task Forces: Have the support of Healthy Community Coalition staff Develop specific goals Have a realistic timeframe for accomplishing goals. Contact Lisa Laflin, Community Building Coordinator at (207) 645-3136 x 5103 for more information about how you can become involved in task forces. |

| Services: | Look Good...Feel Better helps to restore the emotional balance of cancer patients who may have experienced the physical changes that can occur as a result of cancer treatments. Professional cosmetologists and hair stylists offer advice and tips for coping with hair loss and skin changes. Volunteer beauty professionals lead small groups, usually consisting of 6 to 10 women, through practical, hands-on experience. Women learn about makeup techniques, skincare, nail care, and options related to hair loss such as wigs, turbans, and scarves. Each group program participant receives a free kit of cosmetics for use during and after the workshop. For patients who are unable to attend a group workshop, a free, one-time, individual salon consultation with a volunteer cosmetologist may be available in their area. These trained beauty experts help each patient address her specific skin, hair, and related appearance needs. |
