West Farmington, ME 04992
Location:  Red Schoolhouse Road
Phone:  (207) 778-3656
E-mail:  trollval@gwi.net
Contact:  Galen Sayward

Clients:  Hikers/mountain bikers
Services:  Multiple, interconnected, mostly wooded trails offer approximately 4-1/4 miles for hiking or mountain biking. Some trails are on open former cross country ski trails; the rest are on single track mountain bike trails. The Lower Loops are on fairly level land, while Tom's Challenge is on uplands with ledge climbs and fast down drops. The Devil's Staircase is a tough uphill climb, while the Corkscrew is a winding downhill area. The map (available at the Lodge) has dotted lines in places to show where you can leave the loop system to take a shorter trail back to the trailhead near the Lodge.

The trails are ADA accessible and dogs on a leash are allowed.

Location: In the Southwestern part of Farmington, take Red Schoolhouse Road from US Route #2, near Walmart, go one mile to the sign for Troll Valley Campground. Turn up driveway and go to the Lodge at the top of driveway. Please come in and register so your presence is known and check out when you finish. The trailhead is located at the Lodge at Troll Valley. Parking is available next to the Lodge.

If coming out of town by bicycle, ride into West Farmington and take the Whistle Stop Trail (Rail Trail) starting right next to Jack's Logging. When you come to a street, it will be Red Schoolhouse Road. Turn right up the hill and then up the driveway to the Lodge when you see the Troll Valley Campground sign.

Maps are availabe in the Lodge. Mt. Bike signs, along with red, blue or green diamond shaped signs with black arrows on them, help. The color of the diamonds has no special meaning.

Fees:  None
Hours:  9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Year round, however, snow is not removed from the trails. Use is not encouraged during hunting season.
